The Human-Centric Future:
Integrating AI in Education

The education sector is undergoing an accelerated shift. Our recent experience at the ESFE ECA Summit offered a powerful, front-row seat to this evolution—a reflection that took me from the dusty blackboards of my own school days to today's dazzling, AI-enabled smart screens.
From Chalk Dust to Collaborative Intelligence
I remember the simple pride of stepping up to the blackboard—the sound of the chalk, the tangible act of writing or solving a problem for all to see. Later, as a parent, these evolved into whiteboards and dustless chalk, a change that retained the core human essence of the classroom.
This weekend, that essence was amplified. I witnessed a tsunami of AI-enabled smart screens. These are not mere presentation tools; they are interactive hubs that unlock incredible possibilities beyond the confines of a physical textbook.
Imagine: A teacher pulls up a chapter on a touch-friendly board, instantly accessing in-built textbooks, mind-maps, quizzes, and instant assessments. The content can be customised and extended impromptu, leveraging the incredible power of Artificial Intelligence to make learning adaptive and deeply personal.
The transformation is breathtaking. The ability to extend a classroom discussion far beyond the rigid structure of a textbook is an unparalleled power. As I absorbed this rapid shift, a deeper, more fundamental question emerged, not about if we should adopt AI, but how we ensure it strengthens the core human experience of learning:
How do we empower our educators to lead this accelerated shift? How do we embrace the innovation, the speed, and the depth of learning offered by AI while remaining profoundly rooted in human wisdom?
AI: Enhancing Curiosity, Not Replacing It
AI and digital tools are now unlocking visual and experiential learning opportunities that were once impossible.
In my school days, we painstakingly set up physics experiments. Yesterday, I was impressed to see the age-old experiment of proving light travels in a straight line done digitally, allowing students to instantly model and analyse different outcomes. Where I once relied solely on imagination to visualise the intricate human body, the smart board can now zoom in to display the pulsing details of capillaries with scientific precision.
This is the promise of AI in education: a tool that enhances understanding and accelerates curiosity. It takes the concept we once imagined and brings it to vibrant, instant life. The most powerful answer lies in finding the synergy—the balance between the digital tool and the human guide.
Rooted in Humanness: The Panchkosha Framework
These reflections were echoed powerfully within the summit's panel discussions, which focused on ensuring technology serves the whole child.
- Ms. Swati Popat Vats brilliantly underscored the importance of nurturing the Panchkoshas (the five layers of human existence) and harped on the imperative to V.E.R.I.F.Y before integrating any AI output—a critical framework for responsible usage.
- Ms. Neelu Kalro’s moderated panels reinforced the vital need for assessing kids holistically, recognising that success is more than a test score. The focus was on ideation and sharing best practices to ensure education evolves toward comprehensive development.
These discussions brought clarity: The more tech advances, the more human we must consciously become.
In the midst of this dynamic wave of AI-led brands, Apurva and I smiled, reaffirming the core mission of our work: to focus steadfastly on raising human intelligence. The technology is an unparalleled tool for efficiency and depth, but the ultimate goal remains the nurturing of authentic, empathetic, and resilient children. We should not replace the human element; we must strategically enhance it.
